How SavesWatts Works

SavesWatts is powered by the Google Search Engine, and is based on the the fact that different colors consume different amounts of energy on computer monitors. Black requires the least amount of energy. The energy savings per search are small, but it has been estimated that a black Google would save 750 Megawatts per year. How much energy you will save depends on the type of monitor you have - CRT monitors save the most.
